Water Softeners & Filtration for Tempe homes

Tempe is the city outside Queen Creek where we get the most softener and filtration questions. The white crust on faucets and shower glass is the hardness in Tempe’s water, and the same minerals build up inside your water heater and appliances.

Many older Tempe homes were never plumbed with a softener loop, so we install the bypass and connections as part of the job. For drinking water, an under-sink reverse osmosis system is the usual pairing.

Frequently asked questions

My Tempe house has no softener loop. Can you still install one?

Yes. We add the loop and bypass valve where the main line enters the house.

Should I get a softener or a salt-free system?

A softener removes hardness and does the most for fixtures and appliances. A salt-free conditioner reduces scale with less maintenance. We will explain the tradeoffs for your home.

Is East Valley water really that hard?

Yes. Water across the Phoenix area is among the hardest in the country. You see it as white scale on fixtures and glass shower doors, and it shortens the life of water heaters and appliances.

Softener or salt-free conditioner?

A salt-based softener removes the hardness minerals. A salt-free conditioner changes how they behave so they scale less. Softeners do more; conditioners need less maintenance and no salt.

Do I need reverse osmosis too?

A softener does not filter drinking water. An under-sink reverse osmosis system removes dissolved solids and improves taste for drinking and cooking.
